“This is my feeder!” “No! It’s Mine!”
It’s easy to imagine words like those between these two (well, it’s easy for me to imagine…You, you’re on your own!) The Carolina Chickadee (In the right corner, wearing basic black & white) and the American Goldfinch (In the left corner, wearing bright yellow) are doing some smacktalking over the food tray.
It did not matter to either of them that there was a second feeder not 12 inches away with the same luncheon fare, they each wanted to dine alone – at this table. As it turned out, the referee (a Tufted Titmouse) stepped in to break up the fight. They each went to a nearby neutral tree, and neither of them got lunch.
It was very entertaining to watch these two carry on.
I AM OUTSIDE EACH DAY AND FIND BIRDS VERY AMUSING .ONE RECENT YEAR THERE WERE A PAIR OF DOVES IN THE GARDEN AND I WOULD HAVE TO GET THEM OUT FROM UNDER MY FEET TO CHOP WEEDS . ROBINS AND MOCKING BIRDS WAIT UNTIL I HOE AND DIG THEN THEY COME CLOSE AND EAT WORMS .THEY COMPETE AND SOMETIMES FIGHT .
